Road works notice: A725 North Alderston Bridge

8th September 2026

Essential repair works to North Alderston Bridge on the A725, between Bellshill and Coatbridge, are to take place from 11th October 2026 which may affect journey times to and from the Business Park.

The works, involving essential bridge maintenance and refurbishment works, and being carried out by Amey on behalf of Scottish Roads Partnership and Transport Scotland, are due to start at 8:00pm on Sunday 11th October 2026 and are expected to last approximately six months. During this period, both carriageways will be reduced to a single lane with a contraflow in place 24 hours a day, and James Street over bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic (pedestrians and cyclists may still use it, though cyclists must dismount).

Further delays are also anticipated on the wider A725 network, including between Bellziehill and Shawhead Junctions and at the M8 westbound Junction 7A off-slip.

We would recommend allowing extra time for journeys, or considering an alternative route, for the duration of the closure.
