HFD’s Annual Dinner for St Andrew’s Hospices raises over £15,000
160 of Scotland’s leading property professionals descended on Strathclyde Business Park on Friday the 30th October, to continue their support of St Andrews Hospice. HFD’s annual dinner, now into its fourth year, was hosted at the Park’s Avondale Bar & Grill restaurant, and raised over £15,000 for the Hospice’s work.
HFD have been working with St Andrews Hospice for the last four years on a variety of events, and, with the help of key business associates and tenants the partnership has raised in excess of £200,000 for patient services.
William Hill, managing director of HF Developments, commented: “Once again we were delighted by the response of our Park tenants and business associates who gave so generously of their time, money and donated prizes for the event. We have the greatest respect for the work of St Andrew’s Hospice and we hope that the annual fundraising dinner has helped to raise awareness of the Hospice and the vital services they provide.”
St Andrew’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for the people of Lanarkshire through 26 beds for end of life care, 6 beds for frail, elderly sick patients, a Day Hospice with facilities for an additional 60 patients, a Care at Home Team, and a range of Support Services for families of patients.
Through these facilities the Hospice provides care to 120 Lanarkshire patients each week, the large majority of whom are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. To maintain these specialist services the Hospice Fundraising Team has to raise over £2.2 million each year.
Sam Lavery, Hospice Fundraising Director at St Andrew’s Hospice, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Lanarkshire business community come together and raise so much money for the Hospice.
“Our Hospice has the challenge of raising £44,000 each week to fund vital services for acutely ill patients from North and South Lanarkshire, and this cannot be achieved without the ongoing help of the local community and fundraising events like the dinner organised by HF Developments.
“I would like to thank everyone that was involved in ensuring the evening was such a great success and for all those that contributed so generously. It is without a doubt becoming one of Lanarkshire’s annual highlights.”
